The Year of the Snake slithered into London in style as Strathberry and Rosie Lai co-hosted an intimate Lunar New Year dinner at MiMi Mei Fair on January 30th. The exclusive celebration brought together 24 notable guests from the fashion, design, and content creation worlds to toast to the new year with an evening that was equal parts decadent and heartfelt.
Words by Adam Chan.
Strathberry Co-Founder Leeanne Hundleby and editor/content creator Rosie Lai curated the event to perfection, blending luxury and tradition. Guests were welcomed with the “Forbidden Elixir” cocktail, a fragrant mix of Belvedere vodka, Ming River baijiu, lychee, lemon, and basil. The flavours set the tone for a feast that honoured classic Lunar New Year dishes with an elevated twist.
The menu was a culinary journey, from dim sum “Baskets of Wealth” to show-stopping mains like Stir-Fried XO Lobster and Fortune Crispy Norfolk Pork. As a self-proclaimed lobster enthusiast, I found the XO Lobster irresistible, perfectly balancing spice and richness. And the “Serpent’s Treasure” dessert — a luscious chocolate mousse with raspberry compote — was the perfect sweet finale.
Beyond the food, the night was a celebration of artistry. Each guest received a custom Strathberry leather case, personalised with their initials and Chinese zodiac sign by Aivis Provejs. Strathberry’s bags was also on full display, adding a touch of their signature elegance to the occasion.
