During our stay at Niccolo Chengdu, we discovered a modern oasis that beautifully blends luxury and cultural heritage. As the first hotel in the Niccolo chain, named after Niccolò Polo, the father of the famous explorer Marco Polo, this establishment exudes a spirit of adventure and sophistication that reflects the essence of the Silk Road.

Located in the pulsating heart of Chengdu, Niccolo is part of the prestigious International Finance Square (IFS) mall. This prime location offers immediate access to high-end boutiques like Gucci, Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen. It was fascinating to have these luxury shops just steps away from the comfort of our room. The hotel is also surrounded by cultural landmarks, including the giant panda sculpture that has become a city icon. We found it incredibly charming to see pandas throughout the city, from merchandise to themed rooms within the hotel.

The moment we stepped in, we were captivated by its artistic flair. The Beijing Girl painting in the lobby and the Timeless Fashion display, featuring outfits made from fine Chinese porcelain dishes, were particularly striking. These art pieces added a unique touch to the hotel, making every corner a visual delight.

Our rooms were havens of serenity amidst the city's hustle. The contemporary furnishings and state-of-the-art technology ensured our stay was both comfortable and convenient. The highlight was the breathtaking panoramic view of Chengdu, coupled with the Deluxe Panda room that enhanced our stay and made it truly memorable.

Dining at Niccolo was an exceptional experience. The Cantonese restaurant, helmed by a chef from the Guangdong Province, offered authentic delicacies like Cantonese-style chicken that were absolutely delectable. For a taste of Western cuisine, we visited the European restaurant STEAK FRITES, which provided a delightful dining experience accompanied by live jazz music.

One of the standout experiences was the afternoon tea, co-hosted by the Italian jewellery brand Buccellati. The tearoom, adorned with Buccellati motifs, created a luxurious ambience that made our afternoons truly sumptuous.

Chengdu itself has a vibrant atmosphere, with riverside bars, live music venues and skate parks creating an alternative, trendy vibe. We loved exploring these spots and feeling the city's energy and creativity. Despite its central location, it offered a peaceful escape with a well-equipped gym and a charming pool. The Rooftop garden, featuring the iconic “I AM HERE” hanging panda sculpture, was a popular spot for capturing stunning photographs.

Niccolo Chengdu transcends mere lodging; it offers an experience that marries luxury with cultural immersion. From its strategic location and high-end amenities to its artistic installations and vibrant dining options, the hotel offers a unique perspective on modern Chengdu. Whether you are exploring the city's rich history or indulging in contemporary luxuries, Niccolo Chengdu ensures a memorable stay, making it a preeminent choice for travellers seeking both comfort and culture.
