QUARANTINE DIARIES with : MANON LELOUP

Facetime photographed by Mathieu Puga. Words by Charlotte Coquelin.

Could you introduce yourself in a few words?

Bonjour! I am Manon Leloup and I come from Northern France. Im a professional poser, chameleon and clothes hanger.

How long have you been modeling for?

About 9 years.

Where are you isolating and with who?

I am in my dog and cat’s apartment in Paris.

What is your number one way to pass the time during the quarantine?

Cooking but I always cook anyway; making lists, watching great movies from the list, drawing, sewing, moulding.

Did you improve your cooking skills?

Yes I did some new complicated things like a 'Fraisier' which is my favourite pastry.

Could you share with us your best recipe?

Except for pastry, I never follow the recipes … that's not fun! I like to cook very creatively and add things while tasting. Something very simple, here is the way I do my green lentils :

  • Cook the lentils with some onion and garlic in the water (and a bit of salt not) It’s quicker if the lentils have soaked in water before.

  • In a bowl mix one spoon of mustard (the one with visible seeds is also great), two spoons of balsamic vinegar, a half spoon of honey, salt, pepper and three spoons of olive oil.

  • Mix with the cooked lentils and add fresh parsley. It’s almost better cold.

What do you do to stay sane?

I’am not sure I am staying sane! Breathe...

Have you done any new form of isolation shoots?

I did a theatre class through Zoom every week, it’s more about keeping a link and to keep working on our play! Some self portraits with a remote, two FaceTime shoots.

I also did some private pilates class with friends in NYC through Zoom, it was evening for me and the beginning of afternoon for them ! On Zoom as well ; my grandpa's birthday, my mother's birthday, my dad's birthday and my own birthday.

What is the first place you want to visit once the world opens back up?

I think we should travel less… But I would have love to discover many Greek islands and also Peru or Chile.

Do you think the world will ever be the same?

Because of this horrifying system we have created sometime I'm afraid that this crisis will be quickly forgotten… However, I do have hope that the world of humans will change in a better way, witch is being respectful towards nature and others and being able to be happy with less.
