Casablanca Spring Summer 2025 collection. Paris, 26th September.
Words by Adam Chan.
Casablanca’s SS25 collection brought the energy and essence of Los Angeles right into the heart of Paris at the iconic Pavillon Cambon Capucines. With a show-stopping set design featuring vintage lowrider cars, the entire presentation felt like an ode to the car culture and street style that define LA’s underground scene. As the models walked the runway, I couldn’t help but feel like every piece was tailor-made for a stylish car adventure, whether it’s a cruise down Sunset Boulevard or a surf ride to Venice Beach.
Charaf Tajer, Casablanca’s creative director, pulled inspiration from LA’s rich and diverse countercultures, particularly the Mexican-American lowrider scene, surf culture, and the skateboarding ethos. The lowrider cars on the stage weren’t just props; they symbolized the intricately customised, artful expressions of the Mexican-American community, whose influence is woven into the very fabric of LA life. The collection paid homage to this with stunning prints that mirrored the airbrushed designs often seen on low riders, featuring roses, geometric shapes, and vibrant gradients.
The collection spanned a wide spectrum of styles, from streetwear and beachwear to workwear and evening wear, effortlessly blending laid-back SoCal vibes with high-fashion craftsmanship. Each look felt like a celebration of Los Angeles’s contradictions—its dark urban communities contrasted with the sun-soaked beaches. The prints, as always with Casablanca, were a standout. The skull prints, surfboards, and skateboards were all playful nods to LA’s cultural melting pot.
The tailored pieces, particularly those inspired by 1980s Los Angeles Lakers coach Pat Riley and musician Bootsy Collins, showcased Casablanca’s mastery in creating bold yet refined silhouettes. The wide-shouldered tailoring paired with the psychedelic, colorful patterns made for a striking contrast, embodying the spirit of LA’s fearless fashion culture. Whether it’s an intricately embellished evening dress or a sporty, laid-back outfit, Casablanca’s SS25 collection invites you to embrace your inner LA dreamer, one car ride at a time.
